Abbott Program
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR FULL DAY CHILDCARE?
DO YOU LIVE IN BURLINGTON CITY OR
PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP??
AND HAVE A THREE OR FOUR YEAR OLD CHILD?
In 1998, the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey issued a decision in the Abbott v. Burke case requiring the State Department of Education provide a high quality early childhood educational program for all three and four year old children who reside in school districts known as Abbott Districts.
Initially, all three and four year olds must register with the Board of Education in the district in which they reside. The program has two requirements, you must reside within the district and the child must be determined eligible by age. If the district decides that your child is eligible to attend the educational program you might be eligible for before and after school and full time summer care.
The care is referred to as Wraparound. Care is offered free of charge for 4 additional hours per day during the school year and up to 10 full hours per day in the summer to those income eligible families.
